The back teeth are especially prone to decay and needing fillings because they are hard to reach with a toothbrush. If Dr. Borrowdale feels that you would benefit from a sealant, he will apply one to protect the chewing surfaces of your back teeth. A sealant is a thin plastic coating that he bonds to your teeth in a procedure that typically takes no more than a few minutes.
